The Voice of my Mother
Composition By: Kay Lynn Gabaldon
. . .Suddenly, I woke up and opened my heart. . .
. . .A feeling of sound but not sound itself began to transcend a voice. . .
. . .Words so familiar. . .
. . .The essence of the voice captured the whole of my being. . .
. . .A peculiar warmth once felt. . .
. . .What the voice sang could not be conveyed. . .
. . .It seemed there was only feeling. . .
. . .Slowly drifting deep within the sound. . .
. . .It was everything and nothing. . .
. . .A voice so gentle and sweet and safe. . .
. . .Whispering the feeling. . .
. . .I am here, always. . .
. . .A swift breeze suddenly swept through the chimes outside the window. . .
. . .Only to fall into silence. . .
. . .Tears of love trickled down my face. . .
. . .Recognition of the voice was clear. . .
. . .It was the voice of my mother. . .
